It’s official – the LDS Church (the Mormons) have finally, at long last, publicly admitted that founder Joseph Smith Jr. had “as many as 4 wives.”

While attempting to be “transparent” – the polygamy essay still propagates outright falsehoods, however. For instance, in the very first paragraph is this obvious whopper: “In biblical times, the Lord commanded some of His people to practice plural marriagethe marriage of one man and more than one woman.” By using the word, “biblical” the reader is led to wrongfully believe polygamy is/was a selective “commandment” of God. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is absolutely no such “commandment” anywhere in the Holy Bible. Follow the footnote and you will see that the primary “reference” is Smith’s 1843 “revelation” on polygamy – which of course was written by Smith years after he was caught by Emma rolling young Fanny Alger around in the hay in the family barn. OOPS. Nice try Mormon “leaders”. Calling a sow’s ear a silk purse is getting old!
A careful reading of Genesis 16 will show the truth – the IDEA of providing a younger, riper womb for Abraham to fertilize was totally and exclusively that of Sarah. God had nothing to do with it. The fact is, Sarah’s lack of faith in God’s promise caused all sorts of heartache and problems. Typical. Such things usually happen when people think they can take things into their own hands instead of having pure faith.
But the LDS Church has a much bigger problem to deal with now that at least SOME of their more embarrassing warts are self-exposed. Honest members aren’t stupid. They have to wonder why it is the Church has LIED about this absolute truth for so many years.
Remember an LDS author named Fawn Brodie? She had the chutzpah to honestly write a book about this very subject, and titled it “No Man Knows My History.” Brodie was vilified and excommunicated for writing the truth about EXACTLY what the LDS Church is now publicly admitting. Brodie’s name became synonymous with “evil apostate” and I’m quite confident she suffered immensely by such un-Christlike treatment. It seems the LDS Church owes Brodie and her entire family a deep and sincere apology!

I submit here is what honest LDS members should be asking their “leaders”:
1. Is it ever OK for LDS leaders to “Lie for the Lord”? Keep in mind that many early LDS “prophets” openly lied about polygamy when interviewed by the “gentile” press. Could you ever imagine Jesus lying about His core doctrines?
2. Why is Warren Jeffs currently languishing in a Texas prison for doing EXACTLY the same thing that Joseph Smith did during the years 1835 to his death in 1844? Why is Jeffs a criminal, and Joseph Smith a revered demigod to mainstream Mormons when clearly they are two peas in a most corrupt pod of deceit.
3. Why is it that Paul, or Peter, or James, John, or any of the original apostles never felt the need to write spin-doctoring essays about Jesus’ practices and hypocritical actions? (Or for that matter, any “prophet” of ancient Israel?)
4. If the leaders have systematically lied about Joseph’s polygamy, what else have they been lying about over the years? In other words, credibility has been lost forever.
The bottom line is this and every other of the previous 12 “essays” stands as strong witnesses that Mormonism is simply a man-made false religion. Nothing more, and nothing less. As such, it is no wonder their false doctrines deny the free gift of Christ’s saving Grace and is clearly “another gospel” which is accursed! (Galatians 1:8-9) Its “restored priesthood” is a total sham, and has absolutely no power to save souls, and bring them to the true, biblical Christ.
It is simply impossible to grow a healthy, firm tree from a dead and corrupt root.

That’s yet another “lie” – Mormonism is NOT the “fastest growing religion” – that honor belongs to biblical, non-denominational Christianity, my unsaved friend. Do you not know that even the Jehovah’s Witnesses are growing faster than Mormonism – despite its 7, plus full-time missionary (i.e. salesmen)?
Do me a favor, PLEASE – quit quoting Mormon scriptures, ok? They are bogus and meaningless to people who have found the biblical Christ. If you want to quote, use the JST of the Holy Bible completed in 1833. Look in your D&C and read 73:4 – then turn to the History of the Church 1:368 which declares: “We this day finished the translating of the scriptures (the KJV Bible) for which we return gratitude to our Heavenly Father.” This “day” was officially July 2, 1833.
So, you see, the JST is the “Bible that is translated correctly” – which you declare in your 8th Mormon article of faith that you “believe in”. Matthew 16:19 JST: I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH AND THE GATES OF HELL SHALL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST IT. Also Matthew 28:19 JST: “And lo, I am WITH YOU ALWAYS, UNTIL THE END OF THE EARTH!”
The reality, is, Mr. Blind Pharisee, is that Christ’s original Church never left the earth – and so, there was no need for a charlatan to “restore” anything. The scriptures miraculously survived intact for thousands of years and are God’s guidestones for all humanity. All we need to do is read them and study them – and then apply them. No need for bogus “prophets” to lead us into “another gospel” based on HUMAN WORKS. 1 Timothy 4:1 JST: “Now the spirit speaketh expressly, that in THE LATTER TIMES, some shall DEPART FROM THE FAITH, giving heed to seducing spirits (Mormonism’s familiar spirits) and doctrines of devils.”

The first paragraph is Wrong in your article , check Bible. Under the law you are commanded to marry your brothers wife if he dies without children . So if you are married to one wife, you now have two . It’s Gods Law. Deut. 25-5
One more thing , I don’t care for the Mormon’s much and see them as a cult, but also don’t like to hear preachers bashing other churches especially with wrong information.
Warren Jeffs is Not a Mormon , it gets confusing since church names are very similar .

There simply wouldn’t be any FLDS craziness that breeds the likes of Warren Jeffs without the original Joseph Smith and “Mormonism” original catharsis.
That’s assuming a WHOLE lot – that is, IF the surviving brother was already married. Nothing in “The Law” sanctions multiple wives. It seems just as clear to me that it would apply only when (not if) the brother who is living with his married brother is single – which was often the norm in early Israel. This would provide for the family name and lineage to continue. Don’t you think that there would be some kind of “Law” commanding the surviving brother’s wife to accept this form of perversion?? I have had this debate already with FUNDAMENTALIST MORMONS (aka Warren Jeffs’ people) – and it merely a twist. If polygamy was ever sanctioned by the Creator – He would have instructed Noah to take multiple wives in preparation for the Flood – He also would have taken more than one rib from the man Adam.

Hello Kathleen. Yes, I know for a fact that Joe and Hyrum produced and distributed “bogus coin”. My maternal g g Grandfather was a pretty high-level insider during the Nauvoo era. He operated the main general store for Joe and the boys – kind of like the original ZCMI in “Commerce” Illinois. He also kept a very accurate journal. When the “saints” came to Utah after the counterfeiters were killed in a gun battle in Carthage – my ancestor was charged with hiding the bogus coin dies to keep them from falling into the hands of the federal authorities. In the “State of Deseret” – Brigham elevated the bogus coin enterprise to even greater heights. In fact, the “saints” were bilking so many emigrants that Johnston’s army was dispatched to put a stop to it once and for all. That is the untold story of Johnston’s army – they didn’t care about polygamy – but counterfeiting was a capital offense back then. Brigham was under federal indictment in Nauvoo, which is THE primary reason he and the deluded “saints” crossed the river into the Indian Territories at “Winter Quarters”.
“Honest members arent stupid,” I propose that you fail to understand the cult nature or Mormonism, or the power of being raised in one. Facts don’t matter because members don’t losing faith is a sin.
